To the Court.
I have been in Hongkong for 7 or 8 years. As to the 6 men
I saw in connection with the affair to which I have spoken. I
don't know any of them nor anybody connected with the affair
except that I saw the prisoner arrested,
Li Kam.
A mason employed by shing Kee working on the pillars in Statue Square. It was on 24th. February a man was shot. I was mending the plaster of a pillar on the West side of the Queen's Statue en the larger of the 2 pillars nearest to the Praya. I noticed a man looking at the statue. He was in dark clothes. I saw that man the prisoner hanging round and looking at things.

I heard a report like a cracker and I saw 2 men come running from the Fraya run up the street on the West side of the statue. They ran up the street by the railing towards the tram line. Later some 7 or 8 men came from the same direction. Some went en the West side and some on the East side and the prisoner joined in with the ones going on the West. I saw a European. I did not see that gentleman (Capt.Morgan). I can't recognise Europeans. The man was rather short. The European chased. I saw some firemen too. The 3 or 4 men ran up the street towards the tram line. The prisoner ran on the footpath and the 3 or 4 men in the middle of the road. I next saw the prisoner last Saturday when I went to Victoria Gaol Geet. That solicitor Mr. Brutton took me there. The 2 men I aa running up the street first of the 2 the first man was rather short and thin and wearing dark coloured clothing. The 2nd. was taller wearing grey coloured clothing like mine,
To Court

Cross-examined
